Braces and Clear Aligners Officer South: Booking the Appointment That Decides It
Experience the Finest in Dental Care

Starting braces or clear aligners takes one appointment to set up. That visit is an examination, X-rays where the dentist needs them, then the options that suit your teeth and the cost of each, before you agree to anything. Prime Smile Dental Clinic runs that assessment from a single clinic inside Casey Medical Centre in Clyde, and Officer South, in south-eastern Victoria, is one of the suburbs it takes straightening patients from. Both treatments are fitted here: fixed braces bonded to the teeth, and clear aligners you take out. Which one ends up on your teeth is settled in the chair, not over the phone.

The Run of Visits, and the Hours You Can Book Them In

Straightening runs for months, with regular visits through it, so it pays to know where those visits will sit before you start.

The clinic opens weekdays from 9am to 6pm, Saturday from 8am to 6pm, and Sunday from 9am to 3pm. A full Saturday and the middle of Sunday are both available, so review visits need not cost a work day or a school day. Online booking stays open at any hour, and during clinic hours the phones are (03) 592 922 53 and 0477 138 908. Patients travel to Clyde from across that stretch of south-eastern Victoria: Officer South, Berwick, Clyde North and Pakenham among them, and the same assessment covers clear aligners and braces in Beaconsfield.

When you book, ask for a straightening assessment rather than a general check-up. And if a bracket comes loose or a tooth starts hurting partway through treatment, ring instead of waiting for the next scheduled visit. Same-day emergency appointments are available.

Setting the Plan, and Reviewing It, at Prime Smile Dental Clinic

Jonemson Perez opened Prime Smile Dental Clinic in 2023 as a general dental practice, and straightening is handled by the same dentists you would see as your dentist in Officer South for check-ups, fillings and children’s appointments. Every one of them holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from an accredited university and is certified by the Australian Dental Council, and where each studied is set out on our About page.

A plan cannot be built from a photograph. Teeth travel through bone, so gum health, the bone holding each tooth and any untreated decay all get looked at before an appliance goes near your mouth. Occasionally the honest answer is that something else is treated first and straightening follows shortly after.

From there the plan is reviewed as it runs. Braces are adjusted as teeth respond; aligner patients are checked against the stage they should have reached. When progress falls behind, the plan is rebuilt around where the teeth actually are.

Two Ways to Straighten Teeth, and How the Choice Gets Made

Both appliances do the same physical job: steady pressure moves teeth through bone into a better position. What separates them is control on one side and convenience on the other.

Fixed braces are brackets bonded to each tooth with a wire running between them. The force never lets up, which is why a wire stays the stronger tool when teeth have a long way to travel, when individual teeth need turning, or when the bite itself is being corrected rather than the front teeth tidied.

Clear aligners are a series of thin transparent trays, each shaped for a stage of the movement and swapped for the next once its work is done. They come out for meals and for brushing. The trade is that a tray only moves teeth while it is in your mouth.

So three things decide what you are offered: how far your teeth have to move, whether the bite is part of the problem, and how realistically near constant wear fits your week. Our braces and clear aligners page covers both in more detail.

Talking Money Before Anything Goes On Your Teeth

Four things move the number: how far the teeth have to go, which appliance moves them, how long the plan runs, and whether anything needs treating beforehand. A figure offered before anyone has looked in your mouth is guesswork. Contact us for current pricing, which arrives with the treatment plan it belongs to, so you can see what the money is buying.

More than one of these can carry part of it at once:

  • Private health cover. The practice is a preferred provider with health funds, so bring your card. What comes back depends on your cover and how much of the annual limit is left.
  • Afterpay and Zip, which turn one bill into scheduled instalments.
  • Payment plans through the finance companies the practice partners with.
  • Early release of superannuation, which some patients apply for towards major dental work. Approval takes time, so raise it early.
  • Medicare’s Child Dental Benefits Schedule, for eligible children up to 17. Ask us to check what your child’s entitlement reaches.

Where Aligners Are the Wrong Tool

A dentist who steers you away from trays is not withholding a treatment. Two honest reasons sit behind it, and both are about teeth rather than about you.

The first is complexity. Where movement is intricate, where teeth need rotating, or where the bite is being changed, a fixed wire gives far more control over what each tooth does. The second is wear, and braces take that variable off the table entirely. Little else rules straightening out, and gum disease or decay found along the way is treated, not held against you.

    Younger Patients and Myofunctional Appliances

Alongside braces and aligners, the practice uses myofunctional appliances. They are removable, and rather than pushing only on teeth they work on the muscle patterns and habits around a jaw that is still developing, guiding growth while there is growth left to guide. That window belongs to childhood and it closes.

    Turning This Into an Appointment

You do not need to have picked an appliance before you get in touch. Choosing is what the appointment is for, and the quote comes attached to the choice.

Book online at any hour, or call (03) 592 922 53 or 0477 138 908 while the clinic is open.

So if your child’s adult teeth are arriving crowded or turned, or a thumb-sucking or mouth-breathing habit has outlasted the age you expected, book them a look. An examination that ends with nothing needing doing yet is still a useful answer.

Price, Age and the Other Things Worth Asking First

How much do braces or clear aligners cost?

There is no single price, because the quote is built from the plan and the plan is built from the examination. Numbers attached to other clinics were set for other mouths. Contact us for current pricing. You hear your figure, and the reasoning behind it, before treatment starts.

Is there an age when it is too late to start?

Teeth do not reach a birthday and stop moving, and adults make up a good share of the people asking. Healthy gums and sound bone matter far more than the number. What age changes is that crowns, fillings and old extractions become part of the planning, alongside replacement work such as dentures in Officer South.

What is worth having with you at the first appointment?

It is one trip in from Officer South, so make it count. Bring your health fund card and level of cover, and the Medicare details if the patient is a child. If superannuation might be part of how you fund it, raise that on the day, because it changes which options get costed.

What happens if the trays go unworn for a while?

Almost nobody decides to give up. Wear slips, the teeth fall behind the series, the next tray stops seating, and the plan quietly stalls. The remedy is unglamorous: come to your review and say the wearing has been patchy.
