You can spend an hour comparing dental practices and still be choosing on the photographs. What separates one dentist from the next rarely shows up on a front page, and the things that matter to a Beaconsfield household take a couple of questions to surface. Prime Smile Dental Clinic has been answering them from one clinic in Clyde since 2023, for patients across the Casey and Cardinia corridor. This page sets out what to ask any practice you are weighing up, and what the answers are here.

What to Ask Any Practice You Are Weighing Up
All of this can be settled from a website and one phone call, before you are sitting in a chair with a mirror in your mouth. The list is short:
- The address, not the name. A practice can carry a suburb in its name and trade from somewhere else entirely, so read the address and work out whether that trip fits your week.
- Who would be treating you, and what they are qualified in. Qualifications and registration are things a practice should be comfortable naming.
- General practice or one narrow field. That decides whether it is the right starting point for everyday dentistry.
- How much of the work is finished in the same rooms. A check-up that turns something up is only useful if you know where the treatment happens next.
- When the cost gets discussed, before the treatment is agreed or after it.
- The published hours, and whether they include days you are actually free.
Ask those six of any practice and the differences between them stop being a matter of taste.
Preferred Providers
When the Cost Comes Up, and Who Helps Carry It
The order of events is what any practice can commit to, and it is worth asking about. Here the sequence runs: an assessment at the clinic, X-rays and diagnostics where they are warranted, then the treatment options talked through with the cost set out. Only after that does anything start.
For the cost of a specific treatment, ask when you get in touch. The truthful answer depends on what the examination finds, and a figure quoted before anyone has looked is a figure that changes later.
Funding comes from one or more of these:
- Private health insurance. The practice holds preferred provider arrangements with private health funds. Bring your card to the first visit so the rebate can be worked out with you.
- Medicare’s Child Dental Benefits Schedule. Eligible children up to 17 are covered for a set list of services. Bring your child’s Medicare details and eligibility can be confirmed before the appointment.
- Afterpay and Zip, which spread payment across instalments.
- Payment plans through partner finance providers, for treatment running beyond a single visit.
- Early release of superannuation, which some patients use for significant work. Raise it early rather than late.
- Cash and card for everything else.
Checking Prime Smile Dental Clinic Against That List
Jonemson Perez opened Prime Smile Dental Clinic in 2023, and it has run from the same rooms inside Casey Medical Centre in Clyde ever since. There is one clinic, not a chain of them, and patients travel in from Beaconsfield and the suburbs around it.
It is a general dental practice. That is the honest answer to the third question above: everyday dentistry for every age in a household, rather than one narrow field of it. Every dentist on the team holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and practises under Australian Dental Council registration. Dr Gurleen Sekhon, for one, holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery alongside a Master of Public Health. Dr Jeff Field is an anaesthetist and supports sedation for anxious patients and for longer procedures. The practice’s about page carries a full profile for each dentist.
How Much of the Work Gets Finished in the Same Rooms
When an examination turns something up, the useful question is whether it gets treated under this roof. Most of it is here. The everyday range covers:
- Check-ups and cleans, in-depth dental check-ups, X-rays and diagnostics
- Fillings, and root canal treatment where decay has reached the nerve
- Teeth extraction, including wisdom teeth
- Crowns, bridges and dental implants
- Veneers, teeth whitening and other cosmetic dentistry
- Paediatric dentistry, from a first look onwards
- Preventive and restorative dentistry
- Sedation services
- Same-day emergency dental care
Also available are clear aligners and braces in Beaconsfield and dentures in Beaconsfield. Each of those decisions has its own page on this site, because they turn on questions a general dentistry page cannot do justice to.

Naming the Part You Dread, at the Time You Book
Plenty of people put a dental appointment off over what they expect it to feel like, and the delay is what turns a short treatment into a long one. Say it when you book rather than when you arrive. Someone who mentions it can be walked through each step beforehand instead of during it.
Where that is not enough, sedation is available, with Dr Jeff Field on the team to support it. Children get an unhurried version of the same care under paediatric dentistry, because a first visit that goes badly tends to be remembered for years.
Booking In From Beaconsfield, and the Hours to Choose From
Beaconsfield lies in Victoria’s south-east, in the Casey and Cardinia corridor running east through Berwick and Officer. Practices along that stretch commonly see patients from both ends of it, and this is one of them: the dental clinic is in Clyde, and Beaconsfield residents book in exactly as anyone else does, patients booking a dentist in Harkaway included.
Opening hours are:
- Monday to Friday: 9am to 6pm
- Saturday: 8am to 6pm
- Sunday: 9am to 3pm
Book online through the system on this site at any hour, ring (03) 592 922 53 or 0477 138 908 while the clinic is open, or email info@primesmiledentalclinic.com.au. If a tooth has broken or something is painful now, lead with that. Same-day emergency appointments are scheduled differently from routine ones, and saying so at the start is what gets you into the right slot.
What a Website Cannot Tell You
Every question on that checklist can be answered before you go anywhere. One cannot: whether the person across from you explains what they have found in a way you actually follow, and whether you leave knowing what happens next. A single appointment settles it.
Ring (03) 592 922 53 or 0477 138 908 during opening hours, or book a time online whenever it suits you.

The Questions People Ask While They Are Still Deciding
What is the most feared dental procedure?
Root canal treatment carries the worst reputation of the routine procedures, with extractions not far behind. Much of that reputation is inherited rather than earned. Root canal treatment is what ends a bad toothache rather than what causes one, and it is carried out under local anaesthetic. Where the anxiety itself is the obstacle, sedation is an option, and it is easier to arrange when you mention it at booking.
Do pensioners get free dental care in Australia?
There is no national scheme making dental care free for pensioners. Each state and territory runs its own public dental service, and access is tied to holding a concession or pension card, with waiting times that vary. Prime Smile Dental Clinic is a private practice, so the routes here are health fund cover, the payment options above, and the Child Dental Benefits Schedule for eligible children.
Why is dental not covered by Medicare?
Medicare was built around medical services, and adult dental care falls outside it. The standing exception is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, which covers a set list of services for eligible children. Adults rely on private health cover or on paying directly, which is why payment pathways carry more weight in dentistry than in most other areas of health.
What is the two year rule people mention about dentists?
The phrase points at the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, where an eligible child’s entitlement runs across two calendar years rather than resetting every twelve months, so an unused balance can carry forward. Bring your child’s Medicare details and the position can be checked before the visit. How often an adult needs to be seen is not a rule at all. It follows gum health, decay history, and what the last examination showed.
How can I fix my teeth if I don't have money?
Start with the examination, because knowing the whole picture is what makes staging possible. Work spread across several visits can be sequenced so the urgent problems are dealt with first and the rest follows when you are ready. Afterpay, Zip and payment plans through partner providers spread the cost, and early release of superannuation covers larger treatment for some patients.
