Dentures Devon Meadows: Getting Used to Them Is Part of the Job
Experience the Finest in Dental Care

By the time dentures come up, most people have already had the conversation: the teeth still there will not hold much longer, or the gaps have changed how you eat and speak. Prime Smile Dental Clinic provides full and partial dentures from its practice in Clyde, and has done since 2023. Devon Meadows is one of the suburbs it serves, along with Clyde and Cranbourne. The first appointment is an examination rather than a fitting: a dentist looks at what is left, takes X-rays where they help, and sets out which denture suits your mouth and what it will cost before anything is made.

Picking a Time That Suits, Any Day of the Week

Denture care takes more than one appointment, so the times you can make matter more here than for a single check-up with a dentist in Devon Meadows. The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm, Saturday from 8am to 6pm, and Sunday from 9am to 3pm. Both weekend days are covered, which helps when the trip in depends on somebody else being free to bring you.

Online booking works at any hour. In opening hours, call (03) 592 922 53 or 0477 138 908, and mention dentures so reception knows what the visit is about.

Paying for a Denture, and Where Medicare Stops Short

What a denture costs is set by what it has to do. Replacing a whole jaw is a different job from filling a few gaps, and the examination that comes first, X-rays included, is part of the picture. So the figure is worked out at the consultation rather than quoted down the phone.

Medicare is the question everyone asks, and the answer is narrower than people hope. The Child Dental Benefits Schedule covers eligible children up to 17, so it is not the route for an adult having a denture made. Nor is the no-gap arrangement the clinic holds with private health funds, which applies to check-up and clean appointments rather than dentures. Prime Smile Dental Clinic is a preferred provider with private health insurers, and what your extras cover pays depends on the fund and the level you hold.

The rest can be spread: cash and card, Afterpay, Zip, payment plans through partner companies, and early release of superannuation. If you hold a concession card, a veteran entitlement or a health fund card, bring it in and it can be looked at against your own circumstances rather than a general rule.

Deciding Between a Full Denture and a Partial One

A full denture replaces every tooth in an upper or a lower jaw and rests on the gum. A partial fills the spaces where natural teeth are staying put, and draws some of its support from them. Which one you end up with turns on how many of your own teeth can be kept, and a tooth kept is worth more than anything made to replace it.

That is what the first appointment settles: an in-depth check with X-rays and diagnostics, then the options put in front of you and priced.

What Gets Explained at the Fitting, and Who Can Sit In With You

The part people underestimate is the wearing-in. A new denture changes how food feels and how some words sound, and the instructions that come with it are given in the chair and then have to be remembered at home. So they get explained in plain words, unhurried, and said again if the first pass went too quickly.

Bring someone if that helps. A partner, an adult child, a friend who will hold on to the second half of the conversation: anyone you want with you is welcome at the consultation and at the fitting, and questions that surface once you are home get answered too. Gums and jawbone keep changing shape over the years, which is one reason check-ups continue after a denture is made.

What a Denture Asks of You, and When Something Fixed Suits Better

People do ask why some dentists steer them away from dentures, and the honest answer is that a removable plate asks something of the wearer. It comes out at night. The gum carries the load, and a partial leans on teeth that are then doing two jobs. Eating takes practice at the start.

What it does well is replace a lot of missing teeth without asking anything of the jawbone, and it can be made where other options are ruled out. Implants and bridges ask more: an implant needs bone to anchor into, and a bridge loads the teeth either side of a gap. Prime Smile Dental Clinic provides dentures, implants, crowns and bridges, as well as clear aligners and braces in Devon Meadows, so that comparison happens with somebody who has looked in your mouth.

Say the Part You Are Worried About

Most people ringing about dentures have one thing bothering them more than the rest: the cost, the look of it, or the thought of teeth coming out. Say that first and the appointment can start there. Book online at any hour, or call (03) 592 922 53 or 0477 138 908.

Cost, Medicare and Having Teeth Out First

How much does a full set of dentures cost in Australia?

A full set has no single national price: the work varies with one jaw or both, what has to happen first, and the state of the gums the denture has to fit. Your cost is established at the consultation and set out before treatment begins.

Are dentures covered by Medicare in Australia?

Medicare does not fund adult dental treatment, and that includes dentures. The exception is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, for eligible children up to 17. Private extras cover is the usual route for adults, and what it returns depends on your fund.

How much does it cost to have all your teeth removed and dentures fitted?

Extractions and a denture are two pieces of work, priced together once the dentist has seen what is involved. Both are carried out at the Clyde clinic, and sedation is available for patients who cannot face that part. Healing changes the plan, so it is discussed at the examination.
