Your first visit to a new dentist runs in the same order every time, whether you are overdue for a clean or bringing in a child who has never sat in the chair. Prime Smile Dental Clinic has run that sequence from Casey Medical Centre in Clyde since 2023, and Devon Meadows is one of the suburbs it covers, as it is for anyone after a dentist in Junction Village. The examination comes first. Then X-rays where they are needed, and then a plain account of what was found and what the choices are. Nothing is started until you have heard what it costs.

The Examination, and What the X-Rays Are For
The dentist works through your teeth, gums and bite, and for most people that in-depth check-up is the whole of the first appointment. It ends in a clean and a date to come back.
X-rays and diagnostics are the second half of the same job. An examination reads the surfaces. The images read what sits behind them, which is where decay between teeth, trouble under an old filling, bone loss below the gum line and wisdom teeth still on their way tend to show up first.
Then it gets explained. Not a chart handed over at the desk, but what was found, what it means for the tooth in question, and which of the options the dentist would take.
Preferred Providers
Hearing the Cost Before You Agree to Anything
You hear the number before you agree to anything, and the order that gets you there does not vary: examination, findings, price, decision. Pricing the work before anyone has looked inside your mouth would be guesswork, which is why the figure comes fourth rather than first.
Meeting it usually draws on more than one of these:
- Private health insurance, with the practice holding preferred provider arrangements with the funds
- Medicare’s Child Dental Benefits Schedule for eligible children up to 17
- Cash and card
- Afterpay or Zip, spreading the amount over instalments
- A payment plan through the finance providers the practice partners with
- Early release of superannuation
For current prices, ask when you book or at the examination itself.
Who You Will See at Prime Smile Dental Clinic
Jonemson Perez founded the practice in 2023 to give the community around Clyde a dental service it could count on. It is general dentistry, done from one clinic inside Casey Medical Centre.
Every dentist on the team holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and is Australian Dental Council certified. Examinations, cleans, fillings and the everyday restorative work sit with the general dentists, among them Dr Mary Roneth Perez and Dr Gurleen Sekhon. Dr Jeff Field is an anaesthetist, and his part is sedation: for patients whose anxiety needs more than reassurance, and for longer procedures that go better with it. Full qualifications for the whole team are set out on the About page.
What Can Follow a First Check-Up
Whatever the examination turns up, the treatment happens in the same rooms:
- Fillings, root canal treatment, and extractions including wisdom teeth
- Crowns, bridges, dental implants and veneers
- Teeth whitening and cosmetic work
- Preventive and restorative dentistry for adults, paediatric dentistry for children
- Same-day emergency treatment when something has broken or will not stop aching
Also available are clear aligners and braces in Devon Meadows, and dentures. Each is its own conversation with its own assessment, so a first check-up points you toward them rather than settling them.

Get In Touch
Our experienced team is here to attend to your dental concerns and questions.
Your Child’s First Appointment
Your child gets the same sequence at a slower pace. Paediatric dentistry is a service in its own right here, and the point of it is that a first appointment is not the one a child still talks about years later. The clinic was purpose-designed to be bright and welcoming.
If an appointment somewhere else went badly, mention it when you book, so it is known before your child walks in rather than worked out halfway through.
Booking In, and What to Say When You Do
You can ring, book online, or write. The clinic lines are (03) 592 922 53 and 0477 138 908, the online booking system takes appointments at any hour, and info@primesmiledentalclinic.com.au reaches the practice if writing it down is easier than saying it. Opening hours run Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm, Saturday from 8am to 6pm, and Sunday from 9am to 3pm.
Two things are worth saying while you are booking. If the appointment is for a child, say so. If the thought of the chair unsettles you, say that too, because it is a far easier sentence to get out on the phone than it is lying back with the light on.
Getting the First Visit in the Diary
One appointment covers the examination, the X-rays where they are needed, the explanation, and the cost of whatever comes next.
Ring (03) 592 922 53 or 0477 138 908, or pick a time through the online booking system, and say it is a first visit.

The Questions People Ask While They Are Still Deciding
What is the most feared dental procedure?
Root canal treatment carries the worst reputation of the routine procedures, with extractions not far behind. Much of that reputation is inherited rather than earned. Root canal treatment is what ends a bad toothache rather than what causes one, and it is carried out under local anaesthetic. Where the anxiety itself is the obstacle, sedation is an option, and it is easier to arrange when you mention it at booking.
Do pensioners get free dental care in Australia?
There is no national scheme making dental care free for pensioners. Each state and territory runs its own public dental service, and access is tied to holding a concession or pension card, with waiting times that vary. Prime Smile Dental Clinic is a private practice, so the routes here are health fund cover, the payment options above, and the Child Dental Benefits Schedule for eligible children.
Why is dental not covered by Medicare?
Medicare was built around medical services, and adult dental care falls outside it. The standing exception is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, which covers a set list of services for eligible children. Adults rely on private health cover or on paying directly, which is why payment pathways carry more weight in dentistry than in most other areas of health.
What is the two year rule people mention about dentists?
The phrase points at the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, where an eligible child’s entitlement runs across two calendar years rather than resetting every twelve months, so an unused balance can carry forward. Bring your child’s Medicare details and the position can be checked before the visit. How often an adult needs to be seen is not a rule at all. It follows gum health, decay history, and what the last examination showed.
How can I fix my teeth if I don't have money?
Start with the examination, because knowing the whole picture is what makes staging possible. Work spread across several visits can be sequenced so the urgent problems are dealt with first and the rest follows when you are ready. Afterpay, Zip and payment plans through partner providers spread the cost, and early release of superannuation covers larger treatment for some patients.
